Scientific Program consisting of eight broad tracks or themes, and scheduled on October 21-23. These are not exhaustive as multiple other topics for presentation are welcome and needed. The eight tracks are intended to provide organization and focus on specific selected issues. Within each track, there will be a plenary session for a state of the art perspective and throughout the meeting; and a series of oral sessions and poster sessions that are focused on subtopics of the track. In addition, there will be workshops and roundtables to explore these and other issues. Organizers for some tracks such as reproductive, maternal and child health will collect and distribute background papers for prompting focused exchange in track related sessions. On October 19. Urban Health Champions Forum for leaders of local and national governments and civil society will take place. This group will review prevailing policies that affect investment in urban areas and work toward strategic planning to address the health of urban populations. Community Voices Forum will involve meetings in local informal settlements of Nairobi three weeks prior to the conference to obtain perspectives from the community on urban health. From each settlement, delegates will be nominated to attend a synthesis meeting on October 18. Proceedings and recommendations from these activities will be shared in a plenary session during the main conference. Community-based organizations from these settlements will also be given opportunity to make poster presentations and exhibitions of their work throughout the conference.
